Somebody whispered – of course I follow but not on my cellphone !!! Well there isn’t much you need to do (if you already have a “web enabled smart-phone” and willingness to pay for the “data charges”) – just search and download from Internet the most favorite twitter application and you are good to go!!
” …. OK everybody..here’s my first tweet from ISS. It’s good to be on-line! Appreciate the great job of the team who made it work! “ Astro_TJ: Sunday Jan 24, 6 pm
It’s good to be on-line! Yes we (pegged to earth) can’t agree more !!
It’s even better to be always online.
But what’s best ?
- It’s best to be online by default !!
What does that mean?
- It means that you don’t have to launch a browser application or start a web-widget to go to twitter. But you would be able to “twit” from the very application that you are currently using. If you are watching a movie clip of “Avatar” and would want to “scrap” your friend in Orkut, with whom you had a debate last week on whether Avatar can cross Titanic’s record in Box Office. You should be allowed to do that from your Media Player application!! Not going back to your menu grid/home-screen and searching for Widget / browser. Well your favorite MS Office also is moving this way.
Now such use cases are more in number than there were crew members and passengers in Titanic. How to make sure the platform supports all of them ?
Well probably the suitable approach is not to support all of them !! Start with something basic and build on as you move forward.
Does such a platform exist in Symbian? Can I access this platform from my GUI application (written in C++) without bothering about nitty-gritty of network connections, authentication process, parsing content provider specific XML/JSON/JSAPIs ?
Sasken has started with this exercise and is contributing to Symbian foundation a framework named Social Mobile framework (SMF). It’s an attempt to enable all native C++ applications make use of a unified Interface to access and update Social Information. The goal is to develop this package openly. So feel free to shoot at me for the things you don’t understand from my documents – (and expect me to shoot back at you for the comments that I don’t understand
). Being a member of the Technology Team at Sasken and Package Owner of this SMF in Productivity Domain at Symbian Foundation, I am trying to put more and more information in Wiki and Forum to get the discussions going, and is eagerly looking for your support and suggestions ( and of course Votes ).
How to support ? Well that would follow next ….
Meanwhile please check this out.
